HOME ASSOCIATION
Where do I register my child to play hockey?
http://www.maps.hockeyeasternontario.ca/
All parents/guardians are advised that you are required to register your player with your "home association", boundaries as set out by HEO based on your "usual residence". All new registrants must provide proof of residency, and all existing players may be requested to provide proof of address. Failure to provide proof of address will result in registration/transfer not being approved. If you move, you must provide your new address. Falsifying hockey registration records could lead to a suspension of up to 3 years (Hockey Canada By-laws).

Important Notes
The Association requires a minimum of one week to record players in the HCR system before they are eligible to participate in SGMHA activities. Please do not expect same-day eligibility.
Registration is incomplete until all online forms and payments are received. Until then, players are not eligible for any SGMHA activities (pre-skates, tryouts, etc.).
Ensure registration is fully completed by July 15, 2026 and payment is completed by August 15, 2026 to avoid delays getting on the ice.
Step 4
The Shift Forward Program (Replacing Respect in Sport)
The Shift Forward is a new, modernized education program developed through extensive consultation and a national Training Needs Analysis. It will replace Respect in Sport to provide a more integrated, flexible, and hockey‑specific learning experience. This updated approach ensures training is consistent, relevant, and better aligned with the evolving needs of participants across Hockey Canada programs.

This course is required prior to the first session for U7 participants and prior to the first regular season game for U9 participants and those new to hockey. Without this course, the participant is not eligible to participate.
PLEASE ENSURE that one parent from each family completes the course.
Before completing your Shift Forward Program, ensure that you have a Spordle profile.
Respect in Sport and Speak Out certifications will continue to be accepted until the end of the 2027–2028 season. After that time, all individuals will be required to complete The Shift Forward to meet eligibility requirements. This applies regardless of whether you have previously completed Respect in Sport or Speak Out.
